Day 1: An Early View of Upheaval Dome

The forces that formed Upheaval Dome are uncertain. Theories include a large meteorite strike, a salt dome, some kind of erosion and collapse, or a combination of these factors. The trail narrows as it approaches the dome. It drops down into a dry (when we were there) creekbed and in several spots walls rise up on either side creating the feeling of a passageway or a maze.
