| Henry, Mike, Steve and Terry at lunch on Lockhart Basin around mile 30. It's a little tough to tell, but we're all holding up one variety of sub sandwich or another. Mike almost always brings good (junk?!) food and the other guys had finally decided to join him. Instead of munching on Power Bars and trail-made peanut butter sandwiches they bought meat and cheese subs and ate like kings. The trail came around the ridge visible in the background and continued up and to the right of this shot. This area is just above a spot noted for tough sand on the map, and while it was sandy in 1999 we rode through on packed sand for the most part this time. |
